​IT Employers in Ireland Report Modest Hiring Forecasts for Q3 2024

​IT employers reported a Net Employment Outlook of 6% for the third quarter of 2024. 36%of Irish tech companies are planning to add to their workforce in Q3 while 30% plan to reduce their workforce. The sector seems to be struggling for confidence at the moment as some areas of tech are expanding while others are contracting.

Information Technology (IT) hiring demand has decreased by 4% since the previous quarter and 1is flat when compared to the same time last year. The sector is positively trending since the start of 2024 but is lacking direction in terms of a strong positive outlook.

Ireland is lagging behind most regions when it comes to IT hiring trends and is well below the average Global figure of 29%. US is very strong at 50% with some of the European tech hubs also struggling for positive traction.
