Our client is an Irish shipping and transport group. Operating roll on/roll off passenger, freight and container freight services on routes between Ireland, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe.
The Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting the SQL Server Data Warehouse and Data Lakes structures and related applications. We are looking an innovative and forward-thinking Data Engineer passionate about data that will take a technical lead role in the design, build and management of data lake, data warehousing, data transforms, data flow, and data integration strategies.
This role will be a key member of the Business Intelligence team and will work very closely the BI team and functional business units to analyse current processes and reporting needs, gather requirements and identify opportunities for business intelligence to help deliver business and organisation objectives. This role will lead on innovation and development whilst promoting and delivering best practice focusing on scalability, quality, and performance in the business intelligence field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and maintain ETL solutions, ensuring the inbound/outbound data flows from/to multiple data sources/targets are efficient, accurate and consistent.
- Create and maintain documentation of the ETL solutions, Data Lake and Data Warehouse structures.
- Liaise with the DBA Team & IT Support to ensure correct data operations, integration points & data accessibility.
- Work closely with our Business Intelligence team and business teams to gain a knowledge of business opportunities and challenges and use BI as a mechanism to discover and visualise insights which can drive actions.
- Assist with the design and maintenance of the SSAS Tabular data models supporting the Power BI reports.
- Assist with the design and development of effective interactive Power BI visualisations, dashboards, reports as per business needs.
- Implement data quality rules end-to-end across the whole analytics architecture.
- Contribute to and enforce governance, standards, and best practise to manage the processes, technology and data for visualisation/analytical applications.
Experience Required:
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS).
- Highly proficient in Microsoft SQL Server database development (TSQL, Stored Procedures, Functions, etc.).
- Excellent knowledge of relational and dimensional Data Modelling and Data Warehouse design skills.
- Experience in Power BI Development, including Power Query and DAX for complex measure development.
- Good understanding of MS Office 365 productivity suite and Power Platform tools like Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Must have good experience translating business requirements and design into technical solutions.
- Third party vendor and customer management experience.
- Excellent project planning and project management skill.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple task assignments.
- An appropriate 3rd Level Qualification.
