Role Overview:
Our client is seeking a hands-on Technical Lead to support software engineering projects for building and delivering Java-based applications in an Agile delivery environment. The role involves researching and leading alternative technical solutions to meet changing business needs. You will collaborate with Architects and Product Owners to define effective requirements that drive the larger Scrum team. Your responsibilities include ensuring the team's daily activities meet quality standards and fulfil the requirements of the Sprint-based story velocity.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead major projects and complex assignments with broad scope and long-term business implications, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Manage day-to-day system development and maintenance activities to meet service level agreements (story velocity).
  • Collaborate with business and technical partners to identify opportunities, outline potential value, assess risks, benefits, and constraints, and define implementation approaches.
  • Contribute to the overall strategy and address complex issues within your area of expertise.
  • Develop a strategic technical plan, prioritizing based on stories and quarterly PI planning sessions.
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and review of team deliverables, including code review and grooming sessions.
  • Work closely with the Solution Architecture team to drive implementation flows from an Agile delivery perspective.
  • Evaluate commercially available and forthcoming industry technologies related to your area of expertise. Research current and upcoming technologies and recommend suitable frameworks.
  • Proactively create and maintain solution and technology roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address evolving needs and resolve complex story points and bottlenecks.
  • Dive deep into code-level details when necessary.
  • Identify Quality methodologies and define Quality Metrics for the team.
  • Ensure adequate test coverage in Unit Testing, System Testing/Integration Testing, and Performance Testing.
  • Conduct Quality Inspections and Walkthroughs throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including Requirements Review, Architecture Review, Design Review, Code Review, and Security Review to ensure compliance with MasterCard standards.
  • Support the collection and reporting of project and software metrics.
  • Actively seek opportunities to enhance standards and improve process efficiency.
  • Lead and guide the team through all phases of the SDLC for applications.
  • Lead production incident and problem management, identify root causes, and oversee problem resolution.
  • Mentor, coach, and assist team members.
  • Conduct Brownbag sessions on new and upcoming technologies, methodologies, and frameworks.
  • Provide technical training to the team and assist in selecting technical resources for projects.
  • Ensure compliance with defined standards and explore opportunities to modify and enhance standards as needed.
  • Develop documentation templates and lead the development of documentation throughout the development lifecycle of the solution.

Experience Required:

  • Spring Boot/Spring Cloud (Spring Cloud Config, Spring Cloud for Cloud Foundry)
  • Experience in leading and delivering secure solutions in the Financial Services Sector is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of Software Engineering Concepts and Methodologies is required.
  • JAVA/OOP are required skills.
  • Spring framework is required.
  • IntelliJ/Eclipse is preferred.
  • Experience in leading and technically guiding delivery teams (Agile Scrum-based) through bottlenecks/chokepoints and communicating with front-end end-users for status updates and deliverables.
  • A bachelor's degree in information systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering, or equivalent experience is required.
