The Role:
Our client is looking for a highly motivated individual to join OpenShift AI as a Principal Software Engineer. In this role, you will advance the deployment, trustworthiness, and monitoring of Foundation and Large Language Models (LLMs). Your focus will be on explainable and responsible AI within the Open Data Hub project. You will collaborate with open-source communities and internal teams to innovate scalable, trustworthy MLOps solutions across hybrid cloud environments.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and Influence: Be a key leader in MLOps and Explainable AI, focusing on Fairness and Bias. Build and support an active MLOps open-source community for Open Data Hub and OpenShift AI.
  • MLOps Expert: Serve as an MLOps Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Red Hat. Engage with customers, present at conferences, and promote OpenShift AI within our teams.
  • Innovate and Design: Research and develop new features for open-source MLOps projects like KServe and TrustyAI.
  • Provide Technical Leadership: Guide and oversee critical and high-impact projects with your technical expertise.
  • Mentor and Coach: Support and mentor a distributed team of engineers, helping them grow and succeed.

What You Will Bring:

  • Strong research and development experience in Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) with a focus on Large Language Models (LLMs), model-agnostic interpretability methods, bias detection and mitigation, and metrics for assessing fairness, transparency, and interpretability in the complex AI models.
  • Recent hands on experience in deploying and maintaining machine learning models in production environments with respect to explainable AI
  • Technical leadership acumen
  • Passion for writing and maintaining reliable code
  • Hands on experience in Kubernetes f
  • Comfortable working in a distributed remote team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluent English language skills

Nice to Have:

  • A bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, operations research, or a related field. A master's or PhD is a strong plus.
  • Experience in engineering, consulting, or fields related to model serving and monitoring, model registry, explainable AI, or deep neural networks, especially in customer-facing roles or supporting data science teams.
  • Extensive experience with OpenShift.
  • Advanced skills in Python, Go, or Java.
  • Knowledge of popular machine learning libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, and Hugging Face.
